“Euan Stevenson very effectively bridged the gap for me between simply reading music and creating it. If you are looking for a tutor with the breadth of experience to really deepen your musical knowledge and understanding then look no further.”
Fergus McCreadie
(Pianist, Composer & Recording Artist BBC Jazz Musician of the Year Finalist, 2018)
Innovation In Learning
Euan’s lessons offer an adjunct to the traditional learning of piano technique for those students of all ages and abilities wishing to enhance their musicianship with techniques in improvisation and composition. Lessons are tailored to the technical level and interests of each individual. Students can choose to focus on any particular style, genre or discipline. Furthermore, as Western classical and jazz traditions broadly share a common musical language, there is the opportunity to reconcile styles from the wider musical picture - it is not uncommon to be drawing parallels between a solo by Duke Ellington, a song by the Beatles and the inner workings of a Bach Chorale in the same lesson! Equally, the line between composition and improvisation is frequently blurred. The only real prerequisite to getting started and making the most of lessons is a working knowledge of the keyboard and some basic musical theory. Lessons are available on a 1-2-1 basis, as a group workshop, both in person or online via Zoom and Skype.
