Euan Stevenson is a prolific composer, arranger and pianist whose music spans classical, jazz and pop genres, comprising music for concert, film and animation.
Born in Scotland to a musical family - he is a relative of Muir Mathieson (Musical Director for hundreds of British films including Vertigo and Brief Encounter) - Euan studied jazz piano at Birmingham Conservatoire with Liam Noble, composition at University of Birmingham with Vic Hoyland and was subsequently mentored by composer Howard Blake. Upon moving to London in 2022, Euan has enjoyed commissions from a growing number of international orchestras and choirs including the BBC Concert Orchestra (Radio 2 D-Day 80th Anniversary), The English Chamber Orchestra (London Fashion Week, Windrush Centenary, Pinchas Zukerman), The Bach Choir, Choral Arts Initiative and soloist Julia Doyle. His music is broadcast across BBC Radio, Jazz FM, Classic FM and KJazz88.
Euan's keyboard skills have featured on the soundtracks of two award-winning feature films: he played piano and celeste for ‘Stella' (International Best Drama Award: Melech Tel-Aviv International Film Festival) and he composed and performed an entirely solo ‘prepared piano’ soundtrack for the BIFA Discovery award-winning ‘Voyageuse’ (starring Dame Sîan Phillips) which also received a ‘Braddie’ for one of the Top 10 Documentaries (worldwide) from Guardian Chief Film Critic Peter Bradshaw ("the original score by Euan Stevenson is excellent"). In 2025, Euan revisits his collaboration with production company Visible Fictions and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) as composer and arranger of the orchestral sound track for the sequel to the successful children's animation ‘Yoyo & The Little Auk’ (featured on BBC TV and ‘Charanga’ global online music education platform).
Euan has accompanied some of the top jazz singers in the UK, Australia and the US including Tina May, Anita Wardell, Carla Cook and Hilary Gardner but his longest association by far is as co-writer, arranger and pianist with U.K Jazz FM award-winning vocalist Georgia Cécile including recent headline residencies at Ronnie Scott’s and support for Gregory Porter at The Royal Albert Hall. The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (SNJO) toured a 90-minute concert programme entirely of Stevenson and Cécile’s songs which Euan was commissioned to arrange for the orchestra. In addition, Euan writes for and performs with classical group Earthtones Trio (featuring RSNO principals Katherine Bryan and Betsy Taylor) and leads his eponymously named jazz piano trio (featured on BBC Horizon Documentary ‘The Right Diet For You’). He co-writes songs with emerging Scottish Country Pop artist ‘Riley’ and performs duo concerts respectively with celebrated UK jazz pianist Dave Newton and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski.
Euan is a part time lecturer at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a highly regarded private teacher of talented alumni such as Mercury-nominated jazz pianist Fergus McCreadie and arranger Ryan Mackenzie. He has conducted numerous workshops and masterclasses throughout the UK and the US. Away from music, he is a keen tennis player with an RPT Level 1 Tennis Coaching Qualification and quite probably the only professional musician to have ever beaten Andy Murray in a tennis tournament (albeit a very long time ago!).
