Euan Stevenson

Pianist / Composer

Scottish pianist/composer Euan Stevenson combines classical, jazz, and pop influences suffused with Scotland's own musical heritage to create innovative music that is "lush, modern and brilliantly accessible". BBC Radio Scotland

"Stevenson confirms himself as a composer and arranger of great style, as well as a pianist with an elegant, coolly considered improviser's touch..."
  • 5 Stars, The Scottish Herald

"Here's proof from Scotland that the quest for the thinking person's fusion still offers no end of possibilities...a clutch of concise, hauntingly original pieces"
  • The Sunday Times

In 2007 I started teaching jazz piano to a very fine Scottish artist, David Martin RSW RGI. After a while we agreed to "trade skills" and he started giving me painting lessons in return for the piano lessons. Painting allows me to practise the discipline of "creating fearlessly and spontaneously" - away from the keyboard! As I don't rely on painting to make a living, I find it easier to be more care free with my approach, despite my obvious technical limitations! You can see my painting efforts in the GALLERY section of the site.
